1-Ella Bella Bee & the Pollinators
©2018 Janet Rayor
CH: (2x's for audience to learn sing along)
Ella bella, Ella Bella, I'm a Bee
Makin' food for you as I make it for me
Ella-Bella, Ella-Bella- yes that's me!
If you like food, you gotta like me!
Ella Bella Bee and the pollinators
Flyin' flower to flower is a sweet behavior
Cause without us where'd be your food
So many fruits n' vegies you'd have to exclude
Ella Bella Bee and the pollinator crew
Shakin' each flower, to bring food to you
Cause fruit doesn't grow by its own accord
It needs pollinators' . . . help on board
Bridge:
Apples and berries
Almonds and cherries
Bees make them fruit and thrive
Squashes and pea plants
Most grains that you see can't
Be grown without the pollinator tribe!
CH: (Audience sings along)
Ella bella, Ella Bella, I'm a Bee
Makin' food for you as I make it for me
Ella-Bella, Ella-Bella- yes that's me!
If you like food, you gotta like me!
Verse 2:
Ella Bella Bee and the Pollinator crew
We don't slack off, we've work to do
Cause fruit doesn't grow without our bumps n' licks
It needs pollinators for food to pick!
Ella Bella Bee and the pollinators
We're all in this together so do us a favor
You save us so we can save you
Ella Bella Bee and the Pollinator Crew
Bridge:
Apples and berries
Almonds and cherries
Bees make them fruit and thrive
Squashes and pea plants
Most grains that you see can't
Be grown without the pollinator tribe
Ch: (audience sings along)
Ella-Bella, Ella-Bella- I'm a Bee!
Makin' food for you as I make it for me!
Ella-Bella, Ella-Bella, we can save you
Ella Bella Bee & the Pollinator Crew

Poor little me, Poor little Bee
If I sting your knee
Cause I'm scared,
You dare to swat at me
Just one sting, and I sing
Goodbye to the Queen
Cause I'm-a gone, gone, gone, gone, gone
With one little sting
If there's a chance, you dance
In a barefoot stance
You could pound on the ground
Of a Bumble Bee mound
I'll deflect, and protect, my clan of insects
And be gone, gone, gone, gone, gone
With one little sting
chorus 1:
Oh please let me Bee
Stay out of my way
I'll freely be a friend
I'll live another day
Leave me Bee, don'tcha swat
Leave me Bee, don'tcha squash
Or I'll be gone, gone, gone, gone, gone
With one little sting
verse 3:
If you're stung, And you've sung
Out your pain and fear
Put on ice, Honey's nice, Even toothpaste's a cure
Or a pen, Epipen, Should be always near
So you're not gone, gone, gone, gone, gone with one little sting!
Oh please let me Bee
Stay out of my way
I'll freely be a friend
I'll live another day
Leave me Bee, don'tcha swat
Leave me Bee, don'tcha squash
Or I'll be gone, gone, gone, gone, gone
With one little sting . . . .I'm-a goner!
3-Sister Bees ©2018 Janet Rayor
When I'm at home with my sisters
Bianca, Beatrice 'n Debbee
I feel so at home with my sisters
All fifty thousand-seventy-three
When I'm at home with my sisters
We share all the chores around
At home in the hive with my sisters
We enjoy nectar we've found.
I'd be in a twister
to know what to do
Without all my sisters
Helping me too.
At home in the hive with my sisters
I never feel alone.
Dinners are made with my sisters
And they're never on their phones!
It's only us girls
For months of our lives
We're nursing, n' cleaning,
Till the few boys arrive
We help each other us sisters
A peaceful home as can be
We spoil our few little misters
Then kick them out to be free!
We'll coddle our brothers
So they can grow strong
They'll make more sisters
But boys don't live long!
When I come home to my sisters
With more pollen than pockets hold
They'll comb my fuzz of the pollen
Calling me pretty & bold!
Mom gave us life
Now we care for her
There's never strife
Sister love is pure
When I'm at home with my sisters
Bianca, Beatrice 'n Debbee
I feel so at home with my sisters
All fifty thousand-seventy-three
4-Apis Mellifera by Janet Rayor, ©2019
(Audience learns to sing “Apis Mellifera” in chorus)
CHORUS:
Apis Mellifera, the Honey Bee name
Apis Mellifera, Honey is our game
All bees pollinate thousands large and small
Yet without honey bees, no honey, none at all!
(Rubato)
We're a super hero bees
We make honey with our time
It's not just to eat
No! Honey is sublime!
(A tempo)
20,000 species of bees in the wild
Are vital pollinators, in their sleek or fuzzy style.
Yet help of Honey Bees cannot be over-stated--
How sad if honeybees were obliterated!
CHORUS:
Apis Mellifera the Honey Bee name
Apis Mellifera, Honey is our game
Bees pollinate plants large and small
Yet without honey bees, no honey, none at all!
“You may ask, 'What's honey good for?'” “What's honey good for?”
“It's a Hygroscopic!”
“A Hygroscopic?!”
“A hygroscopic seals up wounds”
A hygroscopic, it seals up a wound
Keeping it clean! What a boon!
Soon burns heal, sealed with less pain.
Not protecting bees? Truly insane!
Apis Mellifera, the Honey Bee name
Apis Mellifera, honey is our game
All bees pollinate, thousands large and small
Yet do not make what we make, no they do not, not at all!
“You may ask, 'What's honey good for?'”
“What's honey good for?”
“It's an antibacterial”
“An anti-bacterial?!”
Medi-honey keeps out bacteria and fungus
For burns--ouch-- a miracle among us!
Gums and throat were helped traditionally
Some say it even helps you not to sneeze
“Less allergy?”
“Supposedly!”
Apis Mellifera, the Honey Bee name
Apis Mellifera, honey is our game
Bees pollinate, thousands large and small
Yet do not make what we make, no they do not, not at all!
5-Little Bees by Janet Rayor, © May 2019
We're little bees
Just tiny bees
Helping out our families
People want plants without insects
They don't want weeds but don't suspect
Bees eat & drink the poisoned dew
Would they want us dead if they had a clue?
You're bigger than a little bee
Big enough to help others see
Poison hurts bees, it's an awful blow!
There's other green ways for food to grow.
Like do perfect lawns still appeal
If poison dandelions are my last meal?!
We're little bees
Just tiny bees
Helping out our families
Spring to fall we need lots of flowers
Different kinds – give us our power!
Clover, foxglove, sunflowers too.
We need more than one food, just like you!
We're little bees, Just tiny bees
Helping out our families
You're bigger than a little bee
Big enough to help others see
We love to drink nectar
We can't just stop
But without your help
Us bees could just drop. . .plop
Cause we're little bees
Just tiny bees
You're bigger than a little bee. . .

(Two volunteers dance with Ella-Bella)
Munching in a corn patch
A beetle scorned me,
“You think you are so cultured
But you're only just a Bee
Yes, you make honey
But your dancing? An art?
You don't sing arias! ( “like Crickets”)
Or write poetry that's smart! “
He sniffed and belittled
As I prepped my backside
"I said dance is a language
these steps, have you tried?
Dance is pure pleasure
When you vibrate your wings
A joyful art--that tells many things:
~~~
I hop from side to side entering the hive
A "hair-do" dance--stylists will arrive!
Pollen collected from my fuzz-- feeds new bees
Queen Bee gets a buzz!
To give directions to nectar I've spied
I do a figure eight, distance implied
If food is far I figure eight,
round dance when near
Count up the laps, when I waggle my rear!
CHORUS:
And when new queens need to fly
We dance to say
Go mate with all the guys
You'll need those eggs!
We need new kin!
We shake our butts
and then we spin!
--
To find a new hive, I spend a good half hour
To measure length and width, Up and down I scour
Buzz back to home, to chat-up this choice,
I bump and shimmy, dancing is my voice.
Us scouts dance our findings, Conga lines ensue
Each describes new digs, our sisters to woo
Who wins the most dancers when they perform
Waggled the best answer, n' leads the whole swarm,
Dances for a new home--Dances where to roam!
Dances to keep warm---Danger 'n when to swarm
Dances to be groomed--Dances when to mate
Dance a nice tune. . .
So new queens won't be ate!
Chorus:
And when new queens need to fly, We dance to say.
Go mate with all the guys--You'll need those eggs,
We need new kin!--We shake our butts,
yes we shake our butts, & spin!
7-Garden Fairy ©2018
(Costume change into beautiful hummingbird mask.)
I can fly both front & backwards
I can dive both up and down
I'm a darting wing sensation
In red flowers can be found
Y'ought'a lure this pollinator
Whose speeds extraordinary
Leave a jar of sugar water
And I'll be your ...”garden fairy”
chorus:
But it doesn't take long for weed killer
To take a toll on my liver
Let me be your food fairy
And you be mine
-
I'm a tiny little bird
With a lovely humming sound
Don't buy seeds with herbicide
So us hummers can rebound
Plant runner beans 'n sage
I'm a hungry nectar fan
Plant 'em, we'll engage
Can't you see, I'll be your fan?!
But it doesn't take long for weed-killer
To take a toll on my liver
Let me be your food fairy
And you be mine
I zip round when I fly
Like a helicopter hover
My heart beats, oh my,
A flutter like no other
If you want this pollinator
With speeds extraordinary
Don't spray with pesticides
So I can be your ...“garden fairy”
But it doesn't take long for herbicides
To take a toll On my insides
Let me be your food fairy
And you be mine (2x)
8-Clean Flying Machine ©2018 Janet Rayor
“Hi, I'm Miss Betty Bat, good to be back at the Bee Bar Lounge! Do you like to be bit be mosquitoes? Do I hear a "No?" Do I hear a "No?" A "No, no, no!" Well, I am your friend indeed, a friend in your need cause I love to catch um right in my teeth or pop 'em from wing to mouth like popcorn!”
I'm fast flying lady, I don't drink blood
Except mosquitoes, wing to mouth I give a shove
I eat 'em fast as they fly around the mud
No time to lay eggs a'fore I hit 'em from above.
I'm a clean, clean flying machine!
Beetle eats crops all the day
But he won't live long if I have my way
You don't need poisons. . . just let me chew:
Moths, flies, wasps. . .I munch 'em too!
I'm a clean, clean. . . flying machine!
Oo, but you don't know us--You think we're bad guys
Oo, rethink it!
Cause we're eating the bugs you despise!
My Southern cousin bats sip from white-petaled flowers
Got a knack, seeing light in the darkest hour
Scented blossoms at night- they're ready to swoon
Pollinating fruit underneath the moon
Yes we're a clean, clean . . . flying machines
(Rubato:)
When I'm singing, I've got a piercing sound
My squeaks so loud, my ears could pound
But I squeeze my inner ear, repeatedly I plug
Then release to hear echoes, echoes, echoes
Off fast-flying bugs. . .We're clean, clean flying machines!
9-Bat Habitat by Victoria Millard/Rayor ©2017
If you come into our caves
You interrupt our sleep
And bring in icky fungus
That you'll track in with yo' feet
You may be surprised
Bats can save you from diseases
Just be wise
It's from eatin' yer mosquitos!
Now here in _________,
Please save our habitat
Keep tall trees around
N' that's just that!
Now I'd say that's only fair, cause we're eatin' all your gnats
Us flyin' mammals in the air
By name of . . . bats!
10-I Need a Garden by Rayor ©2018
(Audience sings "I need a garden each time. Dots indicate "I need a garden" repeated.)
I need a garden
. . .Doesn't have to be a lot
I need a garden
. . .Can be just one spot
I need a garden. . .Grass strip or a pot
Just work with what you've got
I need a garden
. . .Containers are nice
. . .For herbs to spice
. . .For carrots that entice
Garden Hotline gives advice
You gotta keep it simple
Plant things that grow back
Share packets of seeds
Share a pack of plants
And if your grass gets weeds
Save bucks n energy
Cause dan-de-lions
Are good for Bees!
I need a garden
. . .Dig out grass from the ground
. . .Put dirt in a mound
. . .Plant seeds all around
Hear a sweet humming sound
I need a garden
. . .a little row of peas
. . .a big fruit tree
. . .Lots of food for me
Big red strawberries
You gotta keep it simple
Plant things that grow back
Share a packet of seeds
Share a pack of plants
And if your grass gets weeds
Save bucks n energy
Cause dan-de-lions
Are good for Bees!
I need a garden
. . .Fruits and veggies to pluck
. . .For health, it's good luck
. . .It'll save you bucks
So bees won't go away!
I need a garden!
Cut from SHOW. . . but still has fun information!
Clearly, we do NOT encourage purposeful stings!
Bee All You Can Bee ©2018 Janet Rayor
I'm so proud of those brave bees
Who took it for the team
They died for their families
For people with their sting
Their stories should be told
For they did not die in vain
Those heroines in black and gold
Who battled through their pain
Flung down on invaders-
Thousands of us bugs
We fought medieval raiders-
Stung their ugly mugs
Though it cost our lives,
against foes we teemed
The village survived
Enemies were creamed
Chorus:
Our stings have been used, for so many things
Defenses, n' fences, medicinal inventions
Yes our stings have been used, for so many things
Stings are an amazing thing!
Farmers in Africa found a
way to save their crops
From hungry elephants
By Bees were stopped:
Tied rope between hives
At edges of plots
Keeps elephants alive
Scared by Bees, they're stopped!
Chorus:
Our stings have been used, for so many things
Defenses, n' fences, medicinal inventions
Yes our stings have been used, for so many things
Stings are an amazing thing!
King John used stings--For his worst aching joints
Painful zings-- at his arthritic points
Extreme inflammation rushed in blood
A healing sensation,
A relieving flood!
(Chorus repeats)
I'm so proud of those brave bees
Who took it for the team
They died for their families
For people with their sting
(a tempo)
Yes our stings have been used, for so many things
Stings are an amazing thing!
